about
After finishing up a morning round of 18 at the local country club (two under par, mind you), you toss your clubs in the trunk and head cross town to meet an old classmate from boarding school for that revenge croquet match he promised you. What better than Techno Bro’s “Brahaus” release to pump you up in your late model plushed-out whip.
You feel “Forlorn” as your barista forgets the double shot of espresso. No matter, the lush landscapes in this track rejuvenate your senses.
Jeremy Blake quickly whips your butt on the croquet re-match, but he also provides a wonderfully lush remix of Forlorn which jazzes up the original with diverse basslines and a housier mentality.
It’s off to meet your prep school mates for an early supper. As the sun starts to set, “Wicked Slice” clicks on. Staccato percussion and first time vocal stylings by long time studio lurker Erin Sopo blend perfectly. You toss your keys to the valet and think to yourself, this track fits well with an Arnold Palmer.
As you settle in to the worn leather lounge chair, “Duck Hook” warms the air. Appregiated bassline - check. Intricate drum samples - check. Wonky breakdown which gives you an eerie feeling like you were left out of your Great Uncle’s will - check. You skip the quiet night in the study and instead head to the music lounge.
Upon entering the club, what surprises you isn’t the $10 coat check or the $8 PBR tallboys, but the track “Agent of Bro” blaring over the soundsystem. The de-tuned melodic elements wash over you like that refreshing eau de toilette.
Those penny loafers you are wearing really start to hurt your feet when the “Joe Lentini Remix” hits. Taking a more aggressive approach with creative vocal usage and new percussive elements, you switch it up to that 13 year old bourbon.
Nary a taxi cab in sight, a metro car is shuttling you home. How the driver got his hands on the Bromix by Christian Bloch (Thinner, SubTrak, Funque Recordings) is beyond you. Twisting the original into a gnarly head trip clocking in at over 8 minutes, what better way to reflect on your day?
